Senior of the Month – Andrea Martin
Freshman of the Month – Erick Miller
Most Improved Student – Danielle Brown

§ Has been working on curriculum and will hopefully have more to report on this issue next month.

§ Met with five recent Shiloh graduates and asked what Shiloh did right for them and what the school could do to make it better. It was a very good meeting and he will be sharing their ideas with teachers.

Administrative Team Reports: Superintendent Acklin

§ Discussed the Interactive Illinois Report Card website commenting that while overall spending is decreasing, overall revenue is also decreasing resulting in a deficit budget.

Freebairn entered the meeting at 7:11 PM.

§ Total expenditures for 2005 are actually less than total expenditures for 1999.

§ The total number of teachers has dropped by 10 since 1999. While pupil to certified staff ratio is below the state average, pupil to administrator average is above the state average.

Young entered the meeting at 7:19 PM.

§ When looking at all test scores combined, Shiloh continues to be above the state average.

Board approved the destruction of the following Executive Session audio recordings: February 16, March 15, April 19, May 17, May 26, and June 28, 2004.

Board approved the employment of Amy Givan as an English teacher and Patsy Barnett as a Reading Improvement Aide.

Board approved the final reading of School Board Policy 7:240 Students – Conduct Code for Participants in Extracurricular Activities

Freebairn questioned if our polices are the same in the sports co-op with Heritage. Superintendent Acklin said they are not at this time. He will address this issue with Heritage again.

Board approved the final reading of the Revised Extracurricular Handbook.

Announcements and Discussion: Reduction-in-Force. If the Board is going to RIF staff it needs to be discussed at the February meeting and finalized at the March meeting. The Board doesn’t foresee having to RIF any staff at this time.

Freebairn asked if some students who require a one-on-one aide move out of the district what would those aides do? Principal Kittell said that they would very quickly absorb those staff into other areas.

Superintendent Acklin opened discussion that if they are going to drop Golf as a sport they need to make a decision by February in order to cancel contracts. If the sport is dropped a student could still participate in tournaments as an individual as long as they have an employee of the school district go with them.

Board entered into Executive Session at 7:40 PM.

Board returned to Open Session and adjourned at approximately 8:10 PM.
