Shiloh High School hosted the LOVC Music Festival on November 13. The 240 member choir was quite impressive. This was an excellent opportunity for our students to perform with a large choir.
The Christmas concert for grades 3-12 will be December 9 at 6:30 PM. Newman Grade School concert will be December 18 at 1:30 PM. Discussion of having parties and the concert for Newman Grade School on the same day.
One of Mrs. Pollock’s high school art classes recently painted a mural on the side of the Brocton Store. Channel 3 News is doing a story on the students and it will air November 18 during the “Kids to Know” segment on the 5:00 news.
Has been talking with teachers about modifying teaching techniques so that students learn more. It’s more important what the students are learning instead of how it’s being taught.
President Means asked how the Curriculum Committee is doing. Principal Hettmansberger responded that the Committee is great because the ideas and suggestions are coming from within the staff, not just from the administration. Acknowledged the excellent work Mrs. Grenda is doing working on scheduling.
Superintendent Lewis reviewed the progress being made by the Committee including scheduling, math curriculum, and extended class day/shorter week.

Superintendent’s report: Discussed the current financial status of the District. Right now we are only getting General State Aid and Federal Title Program money. The states owes us $160,000 plus at this point.
Regional Office of Education completed their compliance visit last week. Thanked Mary, Barb, Linda A., Linda L., Johna, and Principal Hettmansberger for their help in getting all the information together for the visit. The big issue is wiring. To keep up with the technology in our classrooms we need to look at updating our electrical system. He will contact the architect about this.
Auditor has submitted the Annual Financial Report on time. The Federal Audit is also complete.
Regarding softball, Chrisman is not interested in a co-op. Mr. Hageman is interested in coaching and has talked with another teacher about assisting. We have 15-16 games scheduled with 14-15 girls interested so are able to field our own team.

Principal Hettmansberger explained that Mr. Henry had contacted him last summer about finding a student to cover events and submit them to the paper but did not find a student willing to do so. Mr. Henry further explained that the Beacon has started having and Education Page on Monday’s.
