Regular Board Meeting - 5:30 pm - MARCH 16, 2009

President Means welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Classroom Tour was postponed to the April meeting.
Freebairn joined the meeting at 5:37 PM.

Discussion of the 2009-2010 High School Schedule occurred. President Means requested that Hales and Hutchinson meet with the Curriculum Committee one time before the next meeting.

Discussion of using Saxon Math Program K-8 and Glenco grades 9-12.

Discussion of our special education students attending out of district.
Approved payment of bills

Communications: District received ISBE Financial Recognition again this year.
There were no requests to address the Board.

Principal’s report:
Shiloh Elementary- recognized as an Illinois Spotlight School 2008- Great job teachers and students.
Congratulations Elementary Citizens of the Month: Jacee Bell, Courtney Devers, Bailey Means, Sonja Rollins, Lauren Steele, Noah Allen, Chris Misner, Jazzmyn Mills, Malea Holm
Congratulations to Girls Basketball team and Dave and Missy Tingly for winning Sectional Championship. This was a great accomplishment.
Thank you to our students, parents and fans for their great sportsmanship and support during the girl’s basketball tournament.
Congratulations Travis Hawkins- qualified for state 3 point contest. Travis is only the 2nd Shiloh boy to qualify in the history of the Shiloh District.
National Honor Society Induction Ceremony was March 9. Congratulations to new members.
FFA Banquet will be March 27.
7th Graders will participate in Edgar County P.A.R.T.Y. on April 1.
Elementary Honor Breakfast will be April 2 at 8:00 AM.
Congratulations to Jon Dye who was elected District Student Council President and Jessica Richardson elected District Student Council Secretary.

Superintendent’s report:
District is working on a solar energy grant.
Starting to see growth out of the Dibels and ThinkLink programs.
Distributed ISAT information.
Administrators will meet with Nevco tomorrow. We have over half the cost of the scoreboards pledged.
Board approved Resolutions moving $1,072,076.82 from the Working Cash Fund to the Education Fund; $500,000 from the Education Fund to the Operations and Maintenance Fund, and $254,704 from the Education Fund to the Tort Fund.
Approved the purchase of Grade K-4 Saxon Math program.
Board reviewed the proposed 2009-2010 Fee Schedule.
Reviewed the proposed 2009-2010 School Calendar.

Resolution to Recognize Students from the Hume-Shiloh-Newman School District as In-District Students for Tuition Charges signed by the Board Chairmen of Parkland College, Lakeland College, and DACC was found and will be mailed to the President’s of each school.

Board went into Executive Session at 7:27.
Board returned to Open Session at 7:42 PM.

Board approved Extension of Principal’s Contract.

Board approved the following employment of personnel:
Tenure of: Kim Flesch, Corey White.

Rehiring of non-tenure certified staff: Katrina Clodfelder, Jason Conn, Tonya Eich, Jody Ervin, Alicia Grant, Amber Grenda, Doug Hageman, Leslie Hornaday, Doug Ivey, Sonya Johnson, Nichole Mazur, Amy McClain, Adam Rosenbery, Laura Rudder.

Rehiring of part-time certified staff: Sheryl Lawless, Karen Riddell.

Extra-curricular Employment: Matt Barnes and Logan Jeffers, Co-assistant baseball coaches.

Volunteer Assistant Coaches: Hannah Hawkins and Dave Tingley

Board approved the following employment of personnel: Jacob Roskovensky for the 2009-2010 school year.

Absent: None

Board went into Executive Session.

Board returned to Open Session.
