Principal’s Hettmansberger: Parent/Teacher Conferences were held October 20-21. Teachers reported the best junior high and high school parent attendance we have ever had. The teachers were very pleased to have had that time with parents. The elementary grades had almost 100% parent attendance.

October 29 was the Elementary Honors Breakfast. Large number of students made the honor roll.

The Shiloh Winter Concert, grades 3-12, will be December 8 at 6:30. This is also Financial Aid Night at 6:00.

The next PBIS Junior High and High School Reward Day is December 17. This will be a language reward. Students who don’t make the reward will meet with the guidance counselor and discuss behavior modification.

Looking at making changes to the current cell phone policy. Some teachers would like the option of allowing students to use their smart phones to access the internet for research while in class. Freebairn questioned if this would give rise to the issue of ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’. Students would use the phones in small group settings in class where sufficient computers may not be available. Some teachers are interested in using cell phone technology in a positive way. Teacher will be responsible for closely monitoring their use during class.

Interim Superintendent Morgan: Proliance Energy has offered us an opportunity to lock-in a rate of $.40/therm. Last year we paid $.60/therm. 80% of schools in this area are locked in at $.40. Board directed the superintendent to lock in the $.40/therm rate.

Regional Office of Education will do a Life Safety walk-thru on Wednesday this week.

The November 3rd Interrupted/Closure Day for Shiloh Elementary and Jr/Sr High School was approved by the ROE and ISBE.

Still waiting on some of last year’s money from the state. Money promised in December (from last year) could be held up as late as March. This school year we may get one payment out of 4. May not get any more state money this year. Principal Hettmansberger commented that since the elections are over the money will now dry up.

Approved the Superintendent Search contract with The Consulting and Resource Group, Inc. They will whittle the applications down to five or six to be interviewed by the Board.
